😎 Day 1: Exploring the Castle District & Evening Danube Cruise

Begin your day by exploring the area around the 📍Castle District.

You can walk up using the paths or opt for a bus ride; the only bus going to the castle is 16A.

For a deeper understanding of the area's history, consider joining a guided tour, either free or paid, which are both worthwhile options. Exploring the area typically takes 3-4 hours.

If you appreciate art, don't miss the opportunity to visit the 📍National Gallery in the castle.

Afterward, enjoy the panoramic view from 📍Fisherman's Bastion and visit 📍Matthias Church, renowned for its stunning architecture and rich history.

Having lived in Budapest for over 10 years, these places still amaze me every time. The city has such a timeless charm that never gets old!

I would highly recommend finding your way down by walking. There is a little path that brings you to the 📍Chain Bridge.

In the evening, you can enhance your experience by taking a cruise on the Danube River, offering some of the best views of the city. There are numerous boats available, some offering unlimited champagne or dining options. Costs start from 20 €.

😎 Day 2: Parliament, Thermal Baths & Ruin Pubs

Begin your morning by visiting the renowned 📍Parliament building, where you can take a guided tour inside. Knowledgeable guides provide insights into the building's architecture, the Hungarian political system, and significant historical events. The tour also grants access to areas not open to the general public, making it a must-do experience. Booking in advance is highly recommended, as spots fill up fast!

Afterwards, take a walk along the Danube riverbank to see the 📍Shoes on the Danube Bank, a Holocaust memorial of the Hungarian Jews who were shot on the banks of the river.

Continue your exploration by walking to 📍St. Stephen's Basilica and wandering down Andrassy Avenue, ensuring you don't overlook the magnificent 📍Opera House along the way.

In the afternoon, head to 📍City park and visit Heroes' Square and Vajdahunyad Castle. You can also relax at the Széchenyi Thermal Spa (or other famous spas like Gellért Spa, Rudas, or Szent Lukács).

My absolute favorite is 📍Szent Lukács Spa since it's not as touristy and offers an amazing experience.

For the evening, check out the lively party area in the city center. Visit popular ruin pubs such as 📍Szimpla Kert or explore the 📍Gozsdu area with its many pubs and restaurants. These are the top places to visit in Budapest at night; however, they are often filled with tourists and can be quite crowded. If you're looking for a more authentic experience, there are other hidden gems to explore as well!

😎 Day 3: Gellért Hill, Jewish Quarter & Margaret Island

Start your morning by hiking up to the 📍Citadella on Gellert Hill for the best view ever. It's an easy hike, so don't be afraid.

Later, go to 📍Bálna Terrace to enjoy the view with a drink. Check out the 📍Great Market Hall for local food or souvenirs. Unfortunately, the prices have increased significantly, so it's best to skip eating here.

Explore the Jewish Quarter, visit the 📍Dohány Street Synagogue, the largest synagogue in Europe, and the nearby Jewish Museum.

After you've explored all the main attractions and learned a lot about Hungarian history, you can unwind on 📍Margaret Island, an island located in the middle of the Danube River, right in the heart of Budapest.

On Margaret Island, you can explore the Japanese Garden.

The island also features Hungary's largest musical fountain.

From there, you can head to 📍 Kheli Vendéglő, one of the most authentic restaurants with live music. Don't forget to book a table in advance, as it's a very popular restaurant. I would not miss it out in your 3-day Budapest itinerary—it's the perfect place to experience traditional Hungarian flavors and a lively atmosphere!
