Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Towers in Malajzia, with its stunning skyline and vibrant urban landscape.

2 weeks itinerary of Malaysia

😎 Day 1

It is most likely the best and cheapest way to arrive in 📍Kuala Lumpur. When you arrive in Kuala Lumpur, the best way to get to the city center is often via the KLIA Ekspres train from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and  gets you into the heart of the city in about 28 minutes.

When planning your trip to Kuala Lumpur, it's worth considering staying in a hotel with a rooftop swimming pool. These hotels offer incredible views of the city skyline and are not as expensive as you might think.

On your first day, you can relax by the poolside and unwind after your long journey.

For dinner, visit some local restaurants to experience their cuisine.

😎 Day 2

Start your day with a visit to the 📍Petronas Twin Towers, one of the tallest buildings in the world. Book your tickets in advance to visit the Skybridge and observation deck for spectacular views of the city.

Next, head to📍KL Tower, which offers a different perspective of the city. You can enjoy a walk around the surrounding Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. You can also go up here if you wish.

Make your way to 📍Merdeka Square.  Here, you'll find the iconic Sultan Abdul Samad Building and the flagpole that marks where Malaysia's independence was declared.

In the afternoon, consider going on a food tour to try out different local dishes. This tour is fantastic because you'll be escorted by a local guide who knows all the best spots to eat.

😎 Day 3

Begin your day at 📍Batu Caves, which you can reach by metro or taxi. Explore the caves and the Hindu temples there.

Please note that the temple is free to visit; however, it is required for women to cover their knees. If you prefer not to wear a long dress, don't forget to bring a scarf or veil.

Then, head to 📍Chinatown for lunch and try Malaysian dishes like nasi lemak and roti canai.  Be sure to explore the bustling markets and grab some local snacks while you’re there!

In the evening, go to 📍KLCC Park to watch a fun water show with colourful lights.

The fountain show is synchronized with music and lasts about 10 minutes, creating a magical atmosphere against the backdrop of the Petronas Twin Towers.

If you’re up for it, explore the nightlife at Bukit Bintang. The area is buzzing with bars, clubs, and late-night eateries.

😎 Day 4

Spend a day exploring the old historical center of 📍Melaka on a day trip from Kuala Lumpur. It’s about a 3-hour journey each way, totaling 6 hours of travel, which you can do by organized tour, bus, or rental car.

As you wander through the charming streets lined with centuries-old buildings, be sure to visit historical sites like the A Famosa fortress, one of the oldest surviving European architectural remains in Southeast Asia, and St. Paul's Church, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city from the hilltop.

In the evening, head back to Kuala Lumpur.

If you prefer to avoid such long travel in one day, feel free to add an extra day to your itinerary anywhere!

😎 Day 5

Catch a flight to 📍Langkawi for your next adventure.

Once you arrive, consider staying around 📍Pantai Cenang. It's a great spot to set up base and explore the island from. Pantai Cenang is known for its beautiful beach, bustling nightlife, and a wide range of restaurants and shops.

From there, you can easily access various attractions such as the Langkawi Sky Bridge, the Langkawi Cable Car, and the Underwater World Langkawi.

😎 Day 6

Consider booking a snorkeling tour to explore vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life. Some popular spots include Pulau Payar Marine Park, where you can see colorful fish and maybe even a sea turtle!

This trip lasts about 6 hours, so I recommend keeping it simple and focusing on the beach experience. Enjoy the sun, swim in the clear waters, and soak up the laid-back island vibe.

Given the time and travel, it’s wise to take it easy for the rest of the day to recharge. But if you wish to explore a bit more, I’d suggest checking out the main town of Kuah. You can stroll through the shops, visit the iconic Eagle Square, and enjoy some local snacks.

😎 Day 7

Rent a motorbike and go exploring around the island.

Ride to 📍Langkawi Cable Car and Sky Bridge, where you can see amazing views of the islands and rainforest.

Nearby, you can hike to 📍Seven Wells Waterfalls, where you can swim and slide in the natural pools. The hike can be a bit challenging, but trust me, the refreshing water and stunning views are totally worth it! You'll feel so accomplished once you reach the falls, and there's nothing better than a swim in those natural pools after the trek.

😎 Day 8

Hop on a quick flight to 📍Penang, which only takes about 40 minutes and is usually affordable.

When it comes to finding a place to stay, I recommend checking out 📍George Town. It's the historical heart of Penang and it's packed with nightlife, restaurants, and bars.

😎 Day 9

Discover the historic area of George Town and hunt down the street artworks scattered throughout the streets.

You can find a map showing their locations at almost every corner. You can easily spend the whole day exploring this part of town.

For the evening, I suggest taking a cooking class where you'll learn to cook traditional dishes with the help of a local chef.

😎 Day 10

Start your day with a visit to the magnificent 📍Kek Lok Si Temple, one of the largest Buddhist temples in Southeast Asia.

Enjoy the amazing views of the hills and coastline from there.

Afterwards go to 📍Penang Hill and take a scenetic train ride to the top.

After that, explore the lovely Penang Botanic Gardens and see colorful butterflies at the Penang Butterfly Farm.

Finally, return to George Town and check out the lively night markets on Campbell Street and in Little India.

😎 Day 11

On your final day in Penang, consider visiting 📍Batu Ferringhi Beach.

Spend your day relaxing on the beach.

😎 Day 12

In the morning, you can hop on a public bus to 📍Ipoh. It is advisable to book it 1 day in advance.

It's a city that has a mix of history, culture, delicious food, and beautiful scenery. Make sure to visit the amazing Perak Tong Cave Temple, Sam Poh Tong Temple, and Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple.

The temples are free to visit, but please dress properly.

Also, don't forget to explore Gunung Lang Recreational Park.

😎 Day 13

Begin your morning with a 2.5-hour bus ride to 📍Cameron Highlands.

This place has beautiful tea plantations, scenic views, strawberry farms, lush forests, and lots of outdoor things to do.

The weather is cool and nice there.

You can easily book a guided tour to learn more about the area.

😎 Day 14

There are many tours you can choose from, so spend your day on one of them.

Later on, return to Kuala Lumpur to catch your flight.
